Have you been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia Syndrome? Have you been told you have to learn to live with it? Do you have musculo-skeletal pain that doesn't respond to medication or conventional medical treatment? Are you sick and tired of feeling sick and tired? Now there is hope to reclaim a healthy lifestyle at the Bayview Medical Clinic...
The World Health Organization and the the American College of Rheumatology have set forth definitive criteria for the proper diagnosis of fibromyalgia: 11 out of 18 tender or trigger points in four quadrants, widespread pain, and chronic sleep disturbance. Effective medical treatment requires an interdisciplinary team that utilizes rehabilitation and preventive medicine approaches, as well as scientifically based holistic modalities.
Dr. Bakken and Dr. Ritson have treated over 2,000 fibromyalgia patients during the past 12 years. Ninety-eight percent have improved by at least 50% after 12 weeks of a comprehensive Core Treatment Program. Most patients return to their normal and customary activities of living, including work.
FMS is not yet curable; however, pacing and consistent self-care, along with regular clinic visits as needed, become the keys to a person's long term well-being.
Musculo-skeletal disorders and myofascial pain syndromes have chronic pain referral patterns as a result of de-conditioning, degenerative disease, and athletic, dance, or automobile injuries. These conditions, along with FMS, can be successfully treated with an individualized rehabilitation program.
