The best source for information on non-commercial wildland fire software
is the BLM National Applied Resource Sciences Center. They maintain a site
with a listing of over 160 software titles. Instead of reinventing the
wheel at this site, please go to http://www-a.blm.gov/narsc/wildfire/intro.html.
Software can't be downloaded there, so either use the contact information
or do an AltaVista search
for the files.
The US Forest Service also has a Wildland
Management Tools page with a variety of internally developed utilities.
