Fitness Paddling in Bend - Where to Go

Maps courtesy of Google and Navtech. Blue is the Deschutes River. Yellow are major roads. White are minor roads. Brown are footbridges.

4. Harmon Park Boathouse

The Park District built a boathouse and a dock for a rowing program they used to run years ago. Unfortunately, the little boathouse is pretty much just being for storage (I'd love to see it turned into a fitness paddling facility one day).

The plastic dock is still there though and in good shape. The ducks and geese don't hang out much around this dock and consequently it's much cleaner than the one at Pageant Park.

Park on the street and walk your boat a short distance to the water. There's a chainlink fence bordering the river and you'll need to open an unlocked gate to get to the dock.

After launching I'd recommend heading toward the opposite side of the river and getting into the main channel. River left from Galveston Ave. Bridge to Pageant Park (#3) is fairly shallow and can get choked up with weeds in the summer

There are indoor restrooms on the other side of the boathouse and a kids playground if you want to bring your family while you're out paddling.
