3. Pageant
Park
Pageant Park is named for the old Bend Water Pageant, a long discontinued event that featured parade floats traveling down the river (watch out for submerged remnants of the old float tracks downstream and river left). This is another small park with limited on-the-street parking and a very short walk across a grass lawn to a wooden dock. The dock makes getting in and out of your boat easy and this is one of my favorite spots to launch a K1. It's relatively shallow on this side of the river both upstream and downstream, so consider crossing over to the other side to get into the deeper center channel. The one drawback to this put-in is there's almost always fresh geese and duck droppings all over the dock and it doesn't get cleaned very often. back to where to paddle |
