I live in Seattle with my husband Greg and my son Oliver, born September 16, 2003. The rest of my family lives in Salt Lake City, and they're doing well. My brother Sean got married in the summer of 2003 to Shannon, who has two girls, Arin and Adrienne.I completed my MFA. in creative writing at the University of Washington in 1996, and I've been busily writing since then. I've had several publications, including a story that won a Pushcart Prize in 1998.
Since completing my MFA, I've worked as a technical writer at Microsoft and an instructor at the University of Washington, Seattle Central Community College, and North Seattle Community College. Now I'm focusing all my attention on my busy toddler Oliver.
Aside from writing, I like reading (science fiction, fantasy, feminist fiction, multicultural fiction, and parenting books), bicycling, juggling, old jazz and blues, beer brewing, and all sorts of animals but especially turtles, cats, and birds.
