What are some key considerations of quality in worship?

  1. The experience draws one and the community nearer to God.

  2. The veteran churchgoer, the casual attendee and the first timer worshipers are all ministered to, and made to feel at home, even if they may not know what a church home is.

  3. Music supports and compliments the exposition of the word of God.

  4. Music supports and compliments the worship of God by the congregation.

  5. Reverance and sublimation to the majesty and authority of God are key disciplines of conduct at worship, i.e. no "performances." The musicians and choir do offer their time and talents to God, but that effort is in the context of service to God.

  6. All eyes on the cross. Musicians should be heard and not seen.

  7. Excellence in musicianship is mandatory. Not all musicians will be at the same level of proficiency. Mediocre is not acceptable.

  8. There is a consistent look and feel and sound from worship to worship, week to week, month to month. Development and progression, too but more the evolution of a theme as opposed to radical shifts of volume, timbre and content.

  9. Depth of talent. [in a larger church] Develop mulitple bodies for each position so that the load can be shared and the presence or absence of any individual is not perceptible to the congregation's experience.

  10. Use of the phrase, "but we've always done it that way," is not allowed.
