I am looking for information on the GALLIMORE/GRAHAM families. Ed Gallimore married Parenthenia Graham before 1878. Had a daughter Dora Lee Gallimore who married Nathan L. Byrd of Montgomery Co. I found Ed and Parenthenia in Montg. Co. census in 1880, and found Parenthenia and 5 children in Stanly Co. census in 1900. I can't find anything else on these two families. I recently reviewed private files at the Stanly Co., Library concerning decendents of Soloman Burris. I learned his wife, Judith Taylor, came from Surry Co., NC. And that they had married in Surry. What relation is Soloman to the many other colonial period Burris families that settled in Surry Co., namely Thomas, William, John and Esther Burris, and Martin Burris. The files also said Soloman was brother to the Joshua that Settled in Anderson, SC, and local history at Anderson states the same. What evidence is there that Joshua Burriss (b.1724) is brother to Soloman?

Re: Coley query. Do you know where Jaycee/Joycee or William Coley, on the 1790 Montgomery Co census came from? Did they have any connection to Wayne Co NC where Gabriel, William and West Coley served in the Revolutionary War? I am researching the family of William Coley who married Rachel Pearson (a Quaker), daughter of Jonathan Pearson in Wayne Co. They moved to Bladen - Sampson - Columbus, where William died in 1824-25, and Rachel died in 1837. They had at least one daughter who married a Carlile and five sons, Obediah, William Jr., Gabriel, Wright and John moved variously to GA, FL, AL before Wright and my family, the descendants of Gabriel G. In the 1860 Stanly Co. census James C. is listed as head of the family with Eliza (29), Daniel (3), Silas (2), Leonard (90), Sarah (60), Rutha (50), James (40). Perhaps Leonard is his father? I have been unable to find records of any of the descendants of James Cotton Jr. This is the information I have found recording him: James Cotton Jr., buried near Uwharrie, Montgomery Co, NC. Served in the NC Militia during Revolutionary War; was County Surveyor of Montgomery Co. NC and surveyed the county in 1792; is shown in 1790 Census of Montgomery Co. with one male over 16, one male under 16, and one female. He is said to have lived in Chatham Co. N.C. after he left Montgomery Co. NC perhaps dying in Stanly Co. NC. I am interested in learning more information on the family of James Cotton Jr. son of Loyalist Col. Searching for the ancestors of James C. Tucker (1822-1871). He married Eliza Stallings (1833-1877), daughter of John William Stallings and Rachel Furr. James C. and Eliza are buried in Tucker family graveyard in Stanly County. (does anyone know whereabouts of this graveyard?) James C. Tucker is listed in the 1850 Stanly Census in the household of Leonard Tucker, age 72. In the 1860 Stanly Census, James C. Tucker is head of household, and Leonard Tucker, age 90, is living with him.
