Looking for a boat that my husband and I were planning to buy when
Hurricane Ivan hit in 2004. She is a 46' Isand Trader Motorsailer for
sale in Fort Walton Beach, Fl. Her name is the "Conch". She was
pushed ashore by other boats during Ivan. Shalimar Yatch Basin could
not haul her out because of her size and Dave, the owner, took her to
Dog River Marnia in Mobile, Al and they were unable to get her out
there, also. We lost contact with Dave and his phone number around
December 2004. If anyone has any knowledge of this boat and what
happened to her or knows who we could contact about her, please email
us at rvs76@cox.net.

I currently have a 1977 Ct41 that over the past two years has been
upgraded and had most of the "junk" removed. I am thinking of taking
her to the east coast but find insurance costs on a retired salary
almost prohibitive. The boat is in good shape although in need of a
coat of varnish. I would like to communicate wqith people that have
sailed this boat in Florida and the Bahama's as this was the original
intent of purchasing the boat. Now things have changed a little, wife
becoming an 'x' Anyway if you have experience with this boat in the
Bahama's I'd like to hear from you. I know it will have somewhat of a
draft problem but I am sure that wome areas are accessible. And if
that doesn't work maybe a trip to Europe to sell her.

Island Trader 41, Located in Los Angeles Harbor, has sailed primarilly
around the California coastal area and out to the Channel Islands.
Currently being refitted with new aluminum gas tanks, the old iron
ones rotted through. Restoring the exterior woodwork to bring it back
into shape, internal wood is in fine condition.

This island trader needs an owner who wants to go crusing.
Lots of new equipment.

We are the 3rd owners of this 46 foot ketch and just love her. Lots of
work to do but it is our retirement home and our transportation for
our cruising retirement.
We have been updating www.sailboatowners.com brand specific forum as we progressss with the refit.
The owner (of hull 112) writes:
The look of the boat got to us. We knew the boat had too much wood,
but what is the big deal about making smart choices.
We love it, we hate it. Learning every day.

I have a 41' LOD (48 LOA) William Garden designed Island Trader which
I have had for 20 years and have sailed extensively with her.
The original builders certificate listed Garden as the designer.
I also owned an Angelman designed 37' Island Trader while I was refurbishing the 41'er in California.

I have a 41 Island trader Ketch that I have restored and upgraded.
I am interested in finding out if there is a web site dedicated
to the 41 island trader.
The owner writes:
Restored to like new condition.
The boat has been refurbished. The masts have been restored as well
as the bottom rebuilt. We are the victims of a bad survey which
resulted in our working on her since we bought her.
She is for sale.

After three and a half years, she is taking shape. The wooden masts
were replaced with aluminum masts and the teak decks - abused beyond
repair - were recently replaced with fiberglass. Several areas of dry
rot are currently being repaired, most noteably in the aft cabin.
Refrigerator replaced; Lectrsan replpaced; range replaced. Next on
the agenda is repair or replacement of the seized Perkins 4-108.
