1965 Chrysler Newport $300

1965 Chrysler Newport - Asking $300.

The body of this car is excellent. There are no dents, no bondo, and no significant cancer. Chrome is all present except for some of the letters on the back. Glass is all good, not broken and original, but the drivers window is fogged around the edges. There is a small ding in the rear bumper but it wasn't hit hard enough to damage the body. All lights are present and the external turn signal indicators upon the fenders work.

The interior is pretty hashed. Needs reupholstering, new headliner, and carpet. The dash however is good. Floor pans are solid, you don't get to see the road through the floor.

The motor is a 413 big block. Most of these cars came with the 383 small block but this one got the big one. When this engine was in good shape the car got 17 mpg mixed (mostly city) driving and it would really light up the tires. Now that the engine has 360,000 miles on it, it gets about 12 mpg and not very much power. Mostly rings are bad, not much in the way of rod knock in spite of it's miles. I had the heads re-worked at 180,000 and hardened valve seats installed so that it can burn unleaded.

I haven't the time or money to restore it but the body is too nice for the scrap yard.

If interested, leave a comment with contact information. Thank you.

I'm seriously interested in it. Don wanted to work on a car project with me anyway in the summer and I don't think the brat is really worth the work... this car may be however. You know how to get a hold of me. :-)
