Radio

Radio was what I wanted to make a living in. I wasn't successful at it, so I ended up working for the telephone company for 17 years, overlapped with running a BBS that turned into a Unix Timeshare, that turned into an Internet Service Provider (for 15+ years now).

I loved radio, everything else has mostly been making a living. I enjoyed the Internet when it was new and unique, and while it's now tremendously useful, it doesn't have the same feel it had back then and it's been difficult lately.

Last night I had a dream, I was assembling a AM radio station. I always preferred AM, yea, I know the money is in FM, the sound quality is in FM.. But the excitement isn't in FM.

I always liked the big "blow torch" AM stations, particularly some of the high powered Mexican stations, like when XePRS was running the experimental Harris transmitter.

In this dream I was going through a check list, getting read to go on the air; antenna tower, check, transmitter check, studio check, studio-transmitter link, check, license, check...
