Dead Dog Dream

Tonight I dreamt that a dog I had several years ago came and visited me in a dream. Mac, a Weimaraner we had, died from a stroke a number of years ago.

I was on this large grassy hill, very quiet, and he came along, and I knew he was dead, and he seemed to know that but it was ok. He came and greeted me.

He had another dog with him, a bulldog. The bulldog wasn't trusting of me, if I tried to pet him he'd growl, but if I put my hand down he'd come up and lick it. It's like someone had wacked him on the head on a regular basis in the past.

I've been having a lot of dreams regarding death and dead people lately. I'm not sure if it's got to do with close relatives who aren't in good health, or the fact that life seems like such a struggle right now. I don't see my own demise in these dreams but I'm frequently interfacing with dead people so not sure what to make of it.

Toxic Plane

I had a nightmare the other night involving an aircraft.

A Boeing 747 had left a trail of death at every airport it stopped at. It had left Moscow (Russia) and 79 people at the airport died a mysterious death. Then it went to Paris, France, and 30-some odd people died there, again of causes unknown, then it stopped at another airport, and I can't remember which one this was, and 17 people departed after it left.

Nobody made the connect to this airplane causing death until it had gone to three separate airports and left at trail of death at each, and still they didn't know the cause. They did not know if they were dealing with a biological, chemical, or radiological element, nor did they know if it was intentional or a terrorism act.

In the dream it was supposed to come to Sea-Tac airport (between Seattle and Tacoma Washington, USA) next, I live north of Seattle, so this had me concerned.

I didn't know how authorities would handle it since the cause of death was still unknown, whether it was deliberate or not was still unknown. And now it hadn't arrived at Sea-Tac yet even though it should have it was late and nobody knows where it is yet so there is a lot of concern.

I don't know, because this was never resolved in the dream, but I do have a sense that it was something toxic, not biological or radiological, nor intentional, that leaked in the cargo area and apparently was an agent not readily detected.

I'm afraid I have no time frame for this dream.

Space, Nasa, Repeatitive Dreams

In general, I can tell dreams that are predictive in that they go like a slice out of time and are in fact exactly that as I will live out the sequence later. They are linear without skipping from one time or place to another.

Ordinary dreams are not like that, they skip from one location or time to another, frame of reference sometimes changes from first party to third party or vice versa, in general, they are not coherent.

I have some dream themes that occur over and over again, and it is my view that such dreams are something that is subconscious trying to surface and get conscious attention. One such dream that I have involves being in the NASA space program and going to planets that, in the dreams, are part of our solar system, but in reality not known to exist. These are not the sort of dreams that tend to be predictive, they are not fully coherent; but they are extraordinarily focused and repetitive.

The planets involved in these dreams are farther from the Sun than Earth and really should not be receiving enough sunlight to be warm enough for humans, yet, in the dreams I go there and while I find it cold; not so cold that survival is difficult. Also, these planets are inherently dry but not to the point where agriculture is impossible.

The technology to go there is terribly conventional, rockets, and the re-entry on Earth, unpleasant, it's a part of the trip I dread, and in the dreams, I've done it many times before.

The air on these planets, it's thin, but breathable. The size of the planet, about that of our moon, yet the gravity does not feel significantly less than Earth-like.

Native life forms on these planets, not visible; yet, we can grow things there and survive there ourselves. An atmosphere containing enough oxygen to be breathable but not entirely comfortable exists. We can survive without supplementary oxygen but it's not comfortable, like being at a high altitude to which one is unaccustomed.

When I go to these planets, my role there isn't merely scientific, it is one of opening new frontiers for man, planting crops, making the planet livable for humans.

These dreams are recent; I've had an interest in space for as long as I can remember but never sufficient interest to directly attempt to involve myself in a space program, I wouldn't have the level of fitness at this point for it to be viable anyway; and during my waking hours it's not something I even generally contemplate let alone have a strong desire to pursue.

So I am curious why these dreams keep coming up, if they're metaphoric for something I'm just not getting, what is it that wants attention?

There are certainly aspects that parallel a lot of my thoughts and aspirations. I know that human beings are nowhere close to our potential. I know there are technologies that, if we cooperated as a race, could enable us to live in a virtual paradise instead of the near hell that much of the planet is for much of the human race, and it frustrates me to no end that our leaders don't take us down a better path.

But the dreams don't involve these technologies, nor do the planets they do involve exist, at least to the best of my knowledge, so they mostly just puzzle me. I have the sense they are important though, in some way that I can't figure out.

Strange Dreams and a Stranger Universe

I've related dreams set in the future which I see a number of phenomena. Before big Earth changes begin, that is before being geological changes, I see strange atmospheric phenomena. Real common are dreams in which I see something that perhaps I could best describe as a false sunrise. A while back I posted a picture I created in Paintshop to illustrate what I see. It's something like a cross between a super-intense Aurora and a diffuse sunrise, happening 1-2 hours before the actual real sunrise. While Aurora's are usually dominated by green light, this phenomena in the dreams is dominated more by red.

The other phenomena I've only seen rarely in dreams but it consists of a type of mirage in which the horizon appears to curve upwards giving the impression of being in a big bowl. These type of mirages do occur and for example, Admiral Perry was convinced that there existed a continent in the Arctic ocean because of this type of mirage, however, nothing I've seen documented comes anywhere near to approaching the severity of the mirages I see in the dreams.

I am still puzzled by what could cause such extreme visual phenomena, and if it is real, that is, I really am seeing something from the future, and the dreams do have that quality; the moment out of time contiguous type quality that my dreams that are predictive have, or not. They do repeat.

Oddly, tonight I ran across a phenomena I had not heard of earlier in which high energy cosmic rays blasts were hitting the northern hemisphere, and particularly the arctic, and seemed to be rather focused, and this phenomena was first noticed in the late 80's, but seems to have peaked in 2005, and nothing much can be found on it sense.

Observers in the Arctic noted that the horizon lifted up as if it had been grabbed by the hand of God and pulled up. So is there something about intense cosmic ray bombardment that can suddenly alter the refractive index of the atmosphere sufficiently to cause such a visual phenomena?

I can imagine a situation in which, particularly in the arctic region where the air is cold to begin with, you dump a lot of energy into it, and all of the sudden the air heats up, but particularly if the energy came from space and was in a spectrum to which the atmosphere was not very transparent, then it could cause heating of upper layers and not lower layers and thus an temperature inversion of this sort.

The cosmic rays, as they described them, and I have some doubts as to whether or not they really were cosmic, seemed to be quite focused. I can't really imagine any distant source of such high energy particles being that precisely focused. This was most intense during the summer of 2004, and the Sun was still quite active at that time. I am thinking perhaps these really weren't cosmic rays but particles from a solar mass ejection event steered and focused by the Earth's magnetosphere.

At any rate if these particle blasts, whatever their origin could have optical effects like this; then perhaps it is an extreme solar event of some sort that explains what I see in these dreams. The last solar maximum was the most intense on record, but NASA is predicting an even more intense cycle this next cycle which peaks in 2011-2012. However, the much delayed onset of cycle 24 suggests the opposite, that this cycle may be weaker than the last.
