Moire Pattern

An example of a Moire pattern, the banding is particularly visible on the fence. This is a small section of a much larger photograph shown at full resolution. Moire patterns result from a light/dark boundary in an image lining up with the color pattern boundaries in the image sensor. You will only see this when the light / dark pattern in the image is high contrast and approaches the resolution limit of the sensor.
