Staggy 2

Staggy The Boy Scout Slayer II

Staggy The Boy Scout Slayer II

How can you go wrong with a video game where you hack up boy scouts with a sword? Yea, I know this will offend some people who take glowing bits of phosphor on the screen way too seriously. Anyway, the Boy Scouts are attacking him, what is he supposed to do just stand there and let himself be bludgeoned to death with sticks?

Tip

The blog will show multiple flash games at once, some of which have music, etc, that overlaps with others.
To get just ONE on the screen click on the individual posts in the right side bar or on the archives for older games to get to get to those posts.

Orbox

Tell me this one doesn't drive you nuts!

Great Teacher Onizuka

Great Teacher Onizuka

Great Teacher Onizuka

Sadistic strange teacher game. Vice principal wants to kill you. Motivation provided by field trips or beating your class up. 35 days to get them ready for the big test.

Galaxian

This one has a funny bug. If a critter gets by you and doesn't kill you in the process, it gets stuck and the level never finishes.

Connect The Girls

This one is actually somewhat addictive.

Dress Up Hillary

I'll admit that I have a weakness for politically themed games. This one is really stupid but has some humor value.

Interactive Fiction

Another type of game that occupied way too much of my time back when I had the Trs-80 were Infocom games. These were what has become known as interactive fiction, back then they were adventure games (text adventures). We had a number of them on-line when Eskimo North was a single-line BBS.

Now they and hundreds more are online at a site called Ifiction.org. The implementation is really cool in that they used PHP so that this will work with any browser because the browser only sees standard HTML.

What's more, they encoded the game state in the URL as you play, so all you have to do is bookmark the site and the spot in the game where you want to stop and then go back to the bookmark. How cool is that?

When you go there click on "Games", and then click on "Infocom" if you want to play the old Infocom games like Zork.

Flash Zelda

Ah, the things they do in flash...

Frogger

The very first computer I purchased was a Radio Shack (Tandy) Trs-80 model III. This machine had a Z-80 CPU (8 bit bus, 16 bit internal) which ran at a whopping 2 Mhz. (That's Mega, 1/1000th of a GHz), and 48
kilobytes (1/1000th of a megabyte, which is in turn 1/1000th of a Gigabyte) of RAM.

The graphics were blocks 48 vertical, 128 horizontal, that were either ON (white) or OFF (black). Video games were primitive. Frogger, complete with crude audio that used the cassette port connected to a small transistor amplifier for sound, was one of the first video games I played on it.

Now, someone has recreated this classic in flash so you can play it on the web.
