The strategy that works for me is to use lots of small towers (first level greens), and about 1/5 of those blues. Place blue green green green green blue green green green. The hardest group to kill are the fast ones, the blues slow them down.
Place towers along places where they get to hit the creeps twice.
Add towers just enough to keep any creeps from getting through, save as much of your money as you can.
When you get a bonus, apply it to '$' interest.
After all of the spaces are filled, then I start upgrading those along the double hit paths to ten. Again though spend only enough to keep creeps from getting through, allow interest to act upon as much as possible.
