Zuzana Norisová
One of the really cool things about the Internet is that I run across music that I would have never heard in a million years in the absence of the net.
In this case, I was actually searching for some answers relating to a gravitational matter when I ran across a blog called, "The Reference Frame", belonging to Luboš Motl in the Czech Republic; and in it he had a clip from the 2001 Czech retro movie Rebelové in which Zuzana Norisová performs a Czech rendition of Sugartown.
In some of her other music I've found, she reminds me very much of Joni Mitchell but smoother, but her voice is very emotional, has an extreme range and is just velvety smooth. Particularly, locate a piece called, "Mary, anyone could be wrong."

Thanks for your interesting comments. I actually think that the "Mary" song is by Zuzana Smatanová, not Zuzana Norisová. Both of them are Slovak but they are different (and Norisová spends more time in Czechia, and sings in Czech). And I haven't found the Mary song on YouTube, anyway.
If you're interested in various Czech remakes, try also e.g. Yvonne Prenosilova, e.g. the second video, The Boots are Made for Walking. She didn't look like a "standardized supermodel", like the original, but her version is kind of toughest and more authoritative as a rock song. The same with I like Bob (Lollilop) etc.
There would be hundreds of other interesting Czech musicians with both original Czech and remade music...
Well, I'd like to know if the version I heard is by her, obviously Zuzana Norisová does many covers.
I don't remember the website I found it on now, it was something ending in '.fm' but while listening to some of the material it became so slow as to become unusable and I eventually gave up.
She has a very nice voice at any rate.
