NewNet Email List Rules

Please Consider these Rules when Posting

1. The mailing list is for posting anything NewNet related, such as news, information, questions, queries and general discussion.

2. Since conversations naturally flow from one subject to another, please be considerate; respond to the threads with an appropriately descriptive subject heading.

3. No flaming anyone. You can comment on the idea presented but not on the person presenting it.

4. Volume abuse, or the posting of an excessive number of posts to the list, is extremely inconsiderate to those who must pay for reading/writing email.

5. This list is not for the posting of commercial information for personal profit (SPAM).

6. Don't type your notes in all caps--even for the sake of emphasis. It's considered shouting, and is rude. It's also difficult for subscribers to read.

7. Please don't send file attachments to the list. Let people make the decision about whether or not they'd like to receive a file from you, and then take it to private email.

8. Don't over-do it with the quoting. For everyone's benefit, only quote the parts of the message which are relevant when replying.

9. Try to keep the conversation slightly on topic if at all possible.

10. Please use language appropriate to a public forum. No excessive swearing.

11. Keep signatures to a maximum of 6 lines. On the other end of the scale, make sure you put your name on somewhere so we know who's writing.

12. Use Email Netiquette:
Email is so simple and fun, it might be easy to think "anything goes." But remember these guidelines for polite email communication:

Think twice before you click on your "Send" button. Once you send an email message, you can't take it back!

Realize that an email message can be easily circulated (e.g., forwarded, printed and distributed). Be careful what you write.

Be cautious with humor. Statements that are funny person-to-person might lose their humor in writing. They might appear confusing or mean, instead.
