Alita
I think of this as a sort of cyberpunk Thomas Hardy story. Gally is a cybernetically enhanced petite brunette who is about the best fighter around, is very cute, and has a pure heart, but seems to be fated for sadness. This anime has a very unhappy ending. If more cyberpunk stories were as touching, maybe the genre wouldn't be going out of style like it is.The one problem I have with this film is that Gally is so petite and so cute, watching her fight in this film is sometimes just a little too weird looking for me. Using the appeal of cutiness is very common in anime, but I think they may have overstepped themselves with Gally.
It's just a matter of personal taste I suppose.
This anime follows more or less the storyline of the manga,Battle Angel Alita, a very popular comic in the US. Obviously one thing they changed going from the manga to the English translation of the anime was the main character's name; she was orginally "Alita", but for some reason she became Gally in the anime.
