Macross Plus
Macross Plus is a sort of Sequel to the Robotech Series (later I will explain what that series is like, but I have yet to comment on this series). It takes place about a generation after the Robotech setting, but if your haven't seen any of the series it should stand pretty well on its own. Towards the end there might be a scene or two that doesn't quite make sense, but the story is straightforward enough to make any confusions minor. This might be my favorite anime for sheer beauty of picture and sound. The story is a love story that might seem a bit corny to some, but it works for me. The opening song "Voices" I have to rate as personal favorite of mine. The character design is as good as they come, and the overall look of the show have an unusual smooth lushness.The love triangle story revolves around two test pilots and a girl. Yes, its a love triangle. There are some great dogfight scenes with dazzlingly cool mecha. My favorite thing in this film next to its overall art direction may be Sharon Apple, an artificial intelligence who has achieved fame as a singer.There are lots of really good Macross Plus web sites.
