Oh My Goddess (aka Ah My Goddess)
I think I have to credit this five part OAV
as the one that really got me hooked on Japanese animation. The animation
is exquisitely drawn. The story is a comic love story between Keiichi, a
gentle and kind college boy, and Belldandy, a goddess. You probably guessed
the falling in love with a goddess part, but I bet you haven't guessed that
she has two sisters, one who tries to make Keiichi make moves on to Belldandy,
and another who makes weird devices that knock out strange bunny rabbit like
things that annoy her no end. And did you guess that one sister is only a
goddess Second Class? And did you guess that all this romance started with
a wrong number and empty stomach? Well, I'll stop before give away the story,
but if you like romantic stories, have the patience for the occasional
slow scene, and can do without violence, this OAV will charm
you. So it's a little bit saccharine, you can handle it.
