Hi Gang,

Great to see the ELO & Move lists with a new home, thanks to Lynn and
Joe.

Also a big thanks goes to Euan for keeping the lists going through
troubled times and the drought. A job well done and deserves a
little something from Hong Kong for that, (sorry the wife's already
taken).

The light still shines bright - Stephen (The) Greenwood

Hi Everybody!

I thought I'd check out the new address for the Move list. Thanks for
providing us with a new home, Lynn! And the FAQ is really cool. A couple
of additions on the Cheap Trick cover issue:
"Rock 'N' Roll Tonight" on the Busted album
"Down On The Bay" (live) on the Sex, America, Cheap Trick box

Subject: Todd Rundgren: "Good Taste or Tastes Good?"
Date: Thu, 02 Oct 1997 04:39:32 +0000
From: Joe Ramsey

Dear Move-ites,

First, I want to thank Lynn Hoskins for her yeoman-like work on the Move
and ELO Chat Lines. She's really done a great job getting these together
and in such a short time. It's wonderful for me to be able to talk about
my favorite group of all time to like-thinking individuals (i.e. folks
with good taste!!) - and she has made it possible to continue. Also a
thank you to Euan for getting the thing started.

OK - about my FAQ (pardon me?). I feel a bit intimidated coming off like
the "know-it-all" here. I know for a fact that we have at least one of
the authors of the fantastic "Unexpected Messages" (the ultimate ELO/Move
source book) and possibly even a few band members (I hope). All of my
answers were based on my teenage obsession with knowing all I could and
reading whatever I could get my hands on back in the '70s. I, by no
means, feel that I am "Mr. Answer Man." So if anybody knows any info
contrary to what I have written, please post. I'm always up for a new
Move tid-bit and/or factoid.

Looking forward to some spirited discussions...

(Anybody have a tape of the Nazz doing "Hello Susie?" Just asking.)

The Music is out there...

My thanks to Joe and Lynn.

My suggestions for the FAQ (excellent job, Joe!):

1) it shouldn't be written first person.

2) it needs to be an evolving document. There will likely be a lot more
activity in the list soon with the impending releases and Roy's gigs.

3) it should be a bit less fan oriented and more "fact" oriented, in
my opinion.

> Also a thank you to Euan for getting the thing started.

My thanks to Euan too, but actually I started the list. :-) Euan took it
over for me when I changed jobs and couldn't do it from my old machine.

Hello Bruce,

I'm sorry for the mis-information here. I was led to believe that Euan
started the chat thing. Well, I definitely want to give credit here where
it is due as I am totally grateful for the work that you have done.

When I first connected to the internet, one of the first things that I
looked up was Roy Wood/ The Move and bam, there you were. And it was your
page that got my interest fired up again. I thank you for that.

I agree with your suggestions concerning the FAQ and will discuss it with
Lynn. If you see any glaring mistakes/ommissions/misinfo, please feel free
to correct it. A lot of it was based on my 20 year memory (and as much as
I'd like to think that all the brain cells are still firin'... maybe, just
maybe... I may be remembering things a bit differently).

All the best, Bruce, and we'll keep workin' on the FAQ.

'elo chatters,

What has become of Bill Hunt? The original fifth Beatle (along with
Richard Tandy) of the Move and later Electric Light Orchestra. Has he
ever released anything solo? New group?? What???

Of late he's been involved with Slade II (Slade minus Noddy Holder) and
plays on their debut album...in fact I think I might be correct in saying
that he wrote some of the tracks on that album.

Wow! Thanks for the info. Who sings instead of Noddy? Maybe they could
get the old singer from Quiet Riot (I'm sure that he's available). He
made quite a nice living off of copying Slade tunes a few years ago.

Nah!

The subject line is a reference for all you Wrinkle In Time fans out
there.

Of course the Roy & Noddy connections abound, most recently last Spring
when Roy and Noddy filmed "Elvis Has Left The Building" together.

UK people, whatever happened with that?

Well I watched several Episodes including Woody's first one. He did not
seem very knowledgable. But the Program overall is incredible low
budget and the Compare, Mike Sweeney, loved talking the Micky out of
Noddy and people his age like Roy.

It is still being shown but I keep forgetting to watch it my listings
guide annoyingly misses details of that channel.

Dave,

I think that it's even more insidious than what you've described. I'm
fairly sure that the whole album is taken from VIDEOS of The Move.
It's hard to be really positive, but I believe that I've seen many of
these performances and recognize hearing them on the CD.

That's the reason for the cross-fades.. I know for a fact that the
"When Alice Comes Back To The Farm" performance comes directly from
the "Beat Club" video with the German announcer. Weird. (By the way,
my version of this video cuts in almost exactly the way the song on
the CD cross-fades in. Perhaps the master tapes exist in this state:
no beginnings or proper endings)

The Song as it was Shown on Bayern in Germany a few years back was
about 4.04 mins long. It start correctly with the Opening riff then
has the Presenter introduce it over the top. It also ends correctly
including a last strum after the end.
