From: Dave Meeks (davem@vmark.com) Subject: Meeks vs. Turner - The Results Are In!!! Newsgroups: rec.sport.basketball.pro Date: 1993-09-17 17:48:24 PST Well, I have received a number of requests regarding the outcome of the Meeks vs Turner incident. For those interested, here is the quick and dirty results.. If you want the complete lo-down, let me know... If you don't care, hit 'n' now (or whatever is approriate) As many now know, D. Turner apparantly took offense at something I said during one of our conversations (what, someone take offense at somethint I said...never ). Due to some unknown and unbelievable reasons, D. Turner decided he was going to make me think twice about offending him again, and proceeded to threaten to come up to Boston to fight it out... Well, other than the disbelief that someone would drive 10 hours just to get into a fight, I took it as normal net.posturing and shrugged it off. I had warned him that I am a pretty big guy, in an attempt to discourage him (6'5 and 220 discourages a lot of people), but to no avail... Well, Sunday morning, the fated day arrived at around 8am when I received a phone call that he was actually here.. Amazing.. Absolutely amazing.. Anyway, no need to go into the details of the battle now, but let me just state that I guess I forgot to tell D that I was also into the martial arts/Thai kick boxing (albeit a long time ago) and that I make very good use of my advantages.. The "fight" didn't last long, and after about 15 minutes, D. realized (probably because he had yet to come real close to landing a blow while I had pelted him with a number of pretty hard shots of various type) that he was severly overmatched. Anyway, I finally convinced D. that this was not a good idea and that a shattered ego is a lot better than a shattered check bone... He quickly agreed and decided that going back to school was better than getting schooled by me :):) Finally, we have since conversed through e-mail and everything seems to be settled. He has apparantly decided it was a stupid idea, but do to some unknown (by me) reasons, he was compelled to come up. And, he agreed that it would be best to just get back to basketball!!! Oh well, to all those that bet against me..... Ppphhthhththth!!!! :):):):) (Ok... now bring on Ed.... :):):) ) -- David T. Meeks || "And water can't cover her memory...
