They seemed to get winded and we took advantage of that. I think of how nice a journey it could be with everybody healthy. If you can do this in an automobile with flat tires, bad ball bearings, and going through snow with no treads, I don't know what we could have done with a '95 or '96 Mercedes Benz." Dick Motta: "I told the team before the game it's a game you gotta win. But we really didn't have to. I look around the locker room and we're all still alive." Motta: "When Mullin is right, like he was tonight, it was vintage basketball. Sprewell, Mullin, and Jennings can make you look slow. I can't remember them missing a three in the third quarter and you can't fast break out of the bottom of the net." Lorenzo Williams: "This was a very tough loss, a game that you have to win. You just have to bounce back from it. We don't take anybody for granted, just came out and played well." 1 2 3 4 Final 2FG 3FG FG% FT% Golden State 26 29 38 30 - 123 .550 .478 .530 .686 Dallas 30 23 27 32 - 112 .514 .320 .464 .667 Halftime: Golden State 55-53 3rd Q: Golden State 93-80 Technicals: Dick Motta, Golden State illegal D Refs: Joe Forte, David Jones, Woody Mayfield Attendance: 17,063 (cap. 17,502) Golden State Reb Player Min FGM-FGA 3PM-3PA FTM-FTA Pts O-T Ast PF Stl TO Blk Chris Mullin 45 10-16 3-5 3-3 26 2-5 4 4 1 3 2 Donyell Marshall 26 5-13 1-4 0-2 11 4-5 1 3 0 1 2 Clifford Rozier 44 9-14 0-1 2-4 20 1-12 3 1 1 3 1 Latrell Sprewell 44 8-18 2-2 12-17 30 0-4 5 1 2 4 1 Keith Jennings 35 5-9 3-6 3-4 16 2-8 5 2 2 3 1 David Wood 24 4-6 1-2 1-2 10 2-4 0 6 1 1 1 Ryan Lorthridge 13 1-3 0-0 0-0 2 0-0 1 0 0 1 0 Tim Legler 9 2-4 1-3 3-3 8 0-1 0 1 2 0 0 Totals 240 44-83 11-23 24-35 123 11-39 19 18 9 16 8 Dallas Reb Player Min FGM-FGA 3PM-3PA FTM-FTA Pts O-T Ast PF Stl TO Blk Jamal Mashburn 38 8-22 3-9 10-14 29 0-2 5 2 0 2 1 Popeye Jones 27 10-13 1-2 0-0 21 2-11 1 4 0 3 0 Lorenzo Williams 38 7-10 0-0 0-2 14 12-19 2 2 0 2 5 Jason Kidd 36 4-11 1-4 0-0 9 2-6 11 1 4 3 1 Lucious Harris 31 2-9 0-3 0-0 4 2-6 6 5 0 3 1 Roy Tarpley 17 1-6 0-0 2-2 4 2-6 2 1 1 1 0 Tony Dumas 8 3-4 2-2 0-0 8 0-0 0 4 0 1 0 George McCloud 24 3-11 1-5 2-2 9 1-4 1 4 0 2 1 Scott Brooks 16 6-10 0-0 0-1 12 0-2 2 0 1 1 0 Donald Hodge 5 1-1 0-0 0-0 2 0-0 0 2 0 1 0 Totals 240 45-97 8-25 14-21 112 21-56 30 25 6 19 9 The race for 8th: Well, with the loss and Denver's win over Minnesota, the Mavs playoffs' run took a severe blow. Dallas (33-41) is now 2 1/2 games behind Denver (36-39). 5 is the magic number. Any combination of Denver wins and Dallas losses equaling 5 and Dallas is eliminated from playoff contention (Denver holds the tie-breaker). Sacramento (35-39) plays in LA vs the Clippers and Dallas plays Houston tonight and Phoenix plays in Denver Thursday. patricia
