TV alert: Jamal Mashburn is the guest on today's (Thursday) Up Close on ESPN. It is shown at 5 pm CT and rerun at 2 am CT. Jason Kidd did wear a helmet cam Monday morning, but not during practice. Apparently they just had him and some of the other players (Jackson and Mashburn were mentioned) run through some plays. I also found out why Motta closed Tuesday's practice. He has decided to take a more hardline approach with the team [oldtime Mavs fans just involuntarily shuddered] and didn't want the public to watch. We'll see how the youngsters get along with the non-grandfatherly Motta. No new news on the Tarpley front besides that he will be undergoing more tests today. Jason Kidd did not travel with the team to Kentucky due to having a stomach virus. They are hoping that he will be healthy by Friday's game. Dallas vs LA Clippers at Louisville, Kentucky Minimal game notes as I wasn't paying too close attention to most of the game as I was dealing with a problem. With Kidd out, Lucious Harris got the start. Motta also started Loren Meyer. Lucious didn't last too long though as he picked up 3 fouls early in the first quarter. Carlos Rogers also picked up his 3rd foul shortly after Lucious got his and the Clippers were up 16-11. The Clippers led 29-21 after 1. The Mavs cut the Clippers' lead to 37-33 but the Clippers built it back up on their hot shooting to 51-40. They led at the half 56-46. The Clippers shot 66% FG and Dallas shot 47% FG. Brian Williams had 11 points (all in the first quarter), Cherokee Parks had 8 points, and Scott Brooks had 8 points. The Clippers were up only 63-55 with 7:27 remaining and began to pull away from there. They were up 71-57 and 83-65 after 3. They out scored Dallas 27-19 in the quarter. Williams had 21 points including 10-10 FG. The 4th quarter completed the blowout. The Clippers had a 25 point lead at one point in the quarter.
