The Mavs made their first cuts of training camp yesterday. Shawn Harvey, Jeff Webster, and Jaime Peterson were cut to bring the Mavs' roster down to 17 players. Jamal Mashburn participated in all the drills of Monday morning's practice. Keith Grant made the radio show circuit yesterday. He classified his "burnout" as a burnout of the teams new agressive style, not of over work. It was a clash of styles between Grant and Zaccanelli. Grant said that there wasn't anything wrong with Zaccanelli's style, it just wasn't something he was comfortable with. He said that he and the Mavs left on good terms. He said that he will take a couple of weeks off and have the vacation he and his family didn't have this summer before getting on with his life. He'll be back in the NBA. He also stated flattly that Aguirre had nothing to do with his decision.
