As you may have heard, the league has suspended the start of training
camp indefinitely (was to start October 6) and cancelled all 25 pre-season
games that were to occur through October 16.  That includes the scheduled
October 14 Dallas at Indiana game and the October 16 San Antonio at Dallas
game.  The NBA and the Players Association are not scheduled to meet again
for labor negotiations until October 8 - and no one is expecting all
issues to be resolved then.  Thus, the rest of the scheduled pre-season 
games will likely be cancelled soon and there is a very good chance that 
the season will not start on time.
 
Dirk Nowitzki has been playing well in the German 1st division league
averaging 22.1 points.  This is the first season for DJK Wurzburg to play
in the top German division.

Former Mav update: Detroit named Gar Heard as an assistant coach.  Heard
was a Dallas assistant from 87-88 through early in the 92-93 season when
he was then named as interim head coach after Richie Adubato was fired.
He coached the Mavs for 53 games that season.
