It's a sad day for NBA fans.  Due to the continued labor conflict, the NBA 
has cancelled the first two weeks of the season - November 3 - 16.  The 
following Mavs games have been lost:
  Nov 3  Tuesday   @ Orlando 
  Nov 5  Thursday  Golden State 
  Nov 7  Saturday  @ Sacramento 
  Nov 8  Sunday    @ LA Lakers 
  Nov 10 Tuesday   Washington 
  Nov 12 Thursday  LA Clippers 
  Nov 14 Saturday  Phoenix 
Thus, if there is eventually a season, Washington will not appear in
Reunion Arena in 1998-99.  The league is scheduled to submit a 
counter-proposal to the Player Association on Friday.

Dirk Nowitzki is continuing to perform well in the German league.  He had
18 points for Team National in the league's All-Star game (Team
Internation won 132-126).  He had 20 points in Wurzburg's 73-83 loss to
TBG Trier on Sunday and 19 points in Wurzburg's 83-84 loss to Telekom Bonn
on October 1.
