The NBA named Kevin Garnett (Min) as Player of the Week.  Garnett averaged
27 points including 33-51 FG and 11 rebounds as Minnesota went 3-0.

The NBA fined Mark Cuban (Dal owner) $15,000 for confronting and verbally
abusing the refs during and after Wednesday's Dal-Pho game.

The NBA fined Jason Kidd (Pho) $5,000 for his comments about the refs
following Friday's NY-Pho game.

Detroit signed Joe Smith to a 1 year, $2.25 million contract.

Detroit released Torraye Braggs and placed Billy Owens on IR with back
spasms.

The LA Clippers activated Earl Boykins and placed Zendon Hamilton on IR
with a strained lower back.

Philadelphia activated Matt Geiger and placed Todd MacCulloch on IR with
tendinitis in his left ankle.

Rex Chapman (Pho) announced his retirement from the NBA.  Chapman had 
bones fused in his right wrist this summer.

Vancouver activated Doug West and placed Michael Dickerson on IR with a
sprained left ankle.
