TRADE: It was a major 4 team, 12 player trade.  First, as sign-and-trades,
the LA Lakers re-signed Glen Rice to a 4 year, $36 million contract and
Seattle re-signed Chuck Person [most likely to a 3 year contract, but only
the 1st year guaranteed (sign-and-trades have to be at least 3 years)].
New York traded away Patrick Ewing, Chris Dudley, and a lottery protected
  2001 1st round draft pick.
New York received Glen Rice, Travis Knight, Luc Longley, Lazaro Borrell,
  Vladimir Stepania, Vernon Maxwell, a LA Lakers 2001 lottery protected 
  1st round draft pick, a Seattle 2001 lottery protected 1st round draft 
  pick, and 2 Phoenix 2nd round draft picks.
Seattle traded away Horace Grant, Greg Foster, Chuck Person, Emanual
  Davis, Lazaro Borrell, Vladimir Stepania, Vernon Maxwell, and a lottery
  protected 2001 1st round draft pick.
Seattle received Patrick Ewing.
The LA Lakers traded away Glen Rice, Travis Knight, and a lottery
  protected 2001 1st round draft pick.
The LA Lakers received Horace Grant, Greg Foster, Chuck Person, and
  Emanual Davis.
Phoenix traded away Luc Longley and 2 2nd round draft picks.
Phoenix received Chris Dudley, a New York 2001 lottery protected 1st round

Chicago renounced their rights to B.J. Armstrong, Matt Maloney, and Chris
Antsey.

Derek Fisher (LAL) underwent surgery on his right foot to repair a stress
fracture and will be out 6 months.
