News from August 1.

TRADE: Orlando traded the rights to Brendan Haywood (#20 draft pick) to
Washington for Laron Profit and a future 1st round draft pick.  The pick is
protected and available between 2004 and 2007.

Boston signed Paul Pierce to a 6 year, over $85 million contract extension.
The exact amount of the extension will not be known until the 2002-03 
salary cap is set.

San Antonio re-signed Danny Ferry to a 2 year, $2.1 million contract.

San Antonio signed Mark Bryant to a 2 year, $2.1 million contract.

Toronto signed Vince Carter to a 6 year, over $85 million contract 
extension.  The exact amount of the extension will not be known until the
2002-03 salary cap is set.

The NBA and Reebok signed a 10 year marketing and licensing agreement.
Since some teams currently have deals with Nike, Puma, and Champion,
those contracts will be honored, but not renewed.  Eventually, all NBA
apparel will be Reebok.
