Dallas signed Don Nelson to a new 3 year contract to continue as coach and
GM.  The coaching part of his old contract was set to expire today - he had
3 more years as GM under that old contract.

Detroit made a qualifying offer to Richard Hamilton, making him a restricted
free agent.

Miami released LaPhonso Ellis.

Miami exercised their option year for Rasual Butler and Sean Lampley, making
both signed through 03-04.  Miami elected not to exercised their option year
for Ken Johnson, making him an unrestricted free agent.

Miami made a qualifying offer to Malik Allen, making him a restricted free
agent.  Miami elected not to make qualifying offers to Eddie House and Mike
James, making both unrestricted free agents.

The LA Lakers elected not to exercise their option year for Robert Horry,
making him an unrestricted free agent.

New Jersey made a qualifying offer to Brian Scalabrine, making him a
restricted free agent.

New Jersey exercised their option year for Tamar Slay.  Slay is now signed
through 03-04.

New Orleans named Alvin Gentry as an assistant coach.

Philadelphia made a qualifying offer to Kenny Thomas, making him a
restricted free agent.

Toronto made a qualifying offer to Maceo Baston, making him a restricted
free agent.

Washington named Ernie Grunfeld as president of basketball operations.

Atlanta did not make a qualifying offer to Dion Glover, making him an
unrestricted free agent.

Tim Duncan (SA) exercised his option to become a free agent.  He is 
expected to re-signed with San Antonio.

Jason Kidd (NJ) exercised his option to become a free agent.

Monty Williams (Phi) elected not to exercise his option to become a free
agent and, thus, remains signed through 03-04.

Keon Clark (Sac) elected not to exercise his option to become a free agent
and, thus, remains signed through 03-04.
