News from August 1.

TRADE: Orlando traded Don Reid and a future 1st round draft pick to Denver
for a 2004 2nd round draft pick.  The 1st round draft pick is the one
Orlando obtained from the LA Clippers in the Corey Maggette trade and is
1-21 protected in 2003, 1-15 protected in 2004, 1-14 protected in 2005, 
and unprotected in 2006.

The LA Clippers signed 1st round draft pick Chris Wilcox (#8) to a 3 year,
$6,200,160 with a 4th year worth $2,812,239 at the team's option.

New Jersey signed Chris Childs to a 2 year, $3.5 million contract.

Phoenix agreed with Shawn Marion to a 6 year, maximum (estimated $79 
million) contract extension.  Marion has 1 year left on his rookie
contract.  The contract is expected to be signed next week.
