Orlando reached a $1.5 million buyout agreement with Patrick Ewing for the final year (worth $2.33 million) of his contract. Ewing is now a free agent. Steve Nash (Dal) announced that he will not play for Team Canada in the World Championship games due to a lack of mental and physical readiness. Dallas owner Mark Cuban has been very vocal about the lack of adequate insurance for NBA players playing in the tournament and that likely influenced Nash's decision not to play.
