Long time LA Lakers play-by-play TV and radio broadcaster Chick Hearn died
Monday night due to complications from a head injury suffered when he fell
Friday night.  Hearn was 85 and had been with the Lakers for 42 years.
The NBA has lost an icon.

TRADE: San Antonio traded Antonio Daniels, Charles Smith, and Amal
McCaskill for Erick Barkley, Steve Kerr, and a 2nd round draft pick.  The
draft pick is the pick that San Antonio sent to Portland last year as part
of the Derek Anderson-Steve Smith trade.

Jason Kidd (NJ) withdrew from Team USA due to a groin injury.  Baron Davis
(NO) was named as his replacement.  Team USA will be participating in the
World Basketball Championships August 28 - September 8 in Indianapolis.

Detroit negotiated a buyout with Mikki Moore, making him a free agent.
