News from August 10.

The LA Lakers released Brian Grant.  The Lakers used the amnesty clause to
release Grant.  Teams have until August 15 to invoke the amnesty clause
on one player, where by that player's salary will no longer count towards
the luxury tax [a dollar-for-dollar fine for each dollar a team is over
the luxury tax threshold], but the team still has to pay the player the
rest of the salary/contract owed to him and the amount still counts
against the team's salary cap.

Golden State signed Monta Ellis.
