News from January 8.

The NBA named Kevin Garnett (Min) and Gilbert Arenas (Was) as Players of
the Week.  Garnett averaged 27.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, and 5 assists as
Minnesota went 4-0.  Arenas averaged 33.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 7.3
assists as Washington went 2-1.

The LA Clippers signed Luke Jackson to a 10-day contract and placed
Yaroslav Korolev on IL.

Detroit assigned Amir Johnson to the NBADL.

Chicago activated Viktor Khryapa and placed P.J. Brown on IL.

Michael Redd (Mil) is expected to be out 4 to 6 weeks with a strained 
left knee.

Elton Brand (LAC) had 18 points and 12 rebounds including 6 offensive.
Cuttino Mobley (LAC) had 20 points and 5 rebounds.
