News from March 3.

The NBA named Kobe Bryant (LAL) and LeBron James (Cle) as Players of the
Month for February.  Bryant averaged 27.2 points and 5.9 assists as the
Lakers went 13-2.  James averaged 30.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 8.5
assists as Cleveland went 8-6.

The NBA named Rick Adelman (Hou) and Flip Saunders (Det) as Coaches of the
Month for February.  Houston went 13-0 and Detroit went 9-3.

The NBA named Luis Scola (Hou) and Al Horford (Atl) as Rookies of the
Month for February.  Scola averaged 11.7 points and 5.9 rebounds as 
Houston went 13-0.  Horford averaged 10.9 points and 10.6 rebounds as 
Atlanta went 6-8.

The NBA named Kobe Bryant (LAL) and Andre Miller (Phi) as Players of the
Week for the week ending March 2.  Bryant averaged 34 points, 6.8
rebounds, and 6 assists as the Lakers went 3-1.  Miller averaged 23
points, 5.3 rebounds, and 7.7 assists as Philadelphia went 2-1.

Cleveland signed Kaniel Dickens and Billy Thomas to 2nd 10-day contracts.

Yao Ming (Hou) underwent surgery on his left foot foot have screws 
inserted to help heal a stress fracture.  He is expected to be out 4 
months.

Dorell Wright (Mia) is expected to miss the rest of the season after
undergoing surgery on his left knee to repair a torn meniscus.

Golden State assigned Kosta Perovic to the NBADL.

Philadelphia activated Kevin Ollie and placed Shavlik Randolph on IL.

New Orleans activated Julian Wright and placed Bonzi Wells on IL with a
sore Achilles tendon.

New York activated Randolph Morris and placed Zach Randolph on IL with a
bruised right foot.
