News from July 14.

The NBA suspended Ron Artest (Sac) for 7 games for his no contest plea in
May to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.

The NBA suspended Stephen Jackson (GS) for 7 games for his guilty plea in
June to a felony count of criminal recklessness for firing a gun outside a
strip club last fall.

Chicago has reportedly reached a 2 year contract agreement with
Philadelphia free agent Joe Smith.

Milwaukee has reportedly reached a 6 year, $52 million contract agreement
to re-sign Maurice Williams.

New Jersey has reportedly reached a contract agreement with Portland free
agent Jamaal Magloire.

Washington has reportedly reached a 4 year, $15 million contract agreement
to re-sign DeShawn Stevenson.

New Jersey released Hassan Adams.

Greg Oden (Por) underwent a tonsillectomy.  He is expected to be out 2 to
3 weeks.
