Wiliam Hunter was named as executive director of the NBA Players
Association.  Patrick Ewing (NY) was named as Vice President and Chris
Dudley (Por) was named as secratery-treasurer.

Atlanta signed Dikembe Mutombo to a 5 year, $50 million contract.

TRADE: To sign Mutombo, Atlanta traded Grant Long and Stacey Augmon to 
Detroit for a 1st round draft pick in '97 (top 16 protected), a 1st round 
draft pick in '98 (lottery protected), the lowest 2nd round draft pick 
Detroit owns in '97, and the highest 2nd round draft pick Detroit owns in 
'99.

TRADE: Washington traded Rasheed Wallace and Mitchell Butler to Portland 
for Rod Strickland and Harvey Grant.

Detroit re-signed Michael Curry and Don Reid.

Detroit renounced their rights to Lou Roe, Mark West, and Eric Leckner.

Washington signed Tracy Murray.

Philadelphia renounced their rights to Ed Pinckney.

Houston signed Brent Price to a 7 year, $18.2 million contract with an
opt-out clause after the 3rd year.

Seattle re-signed Sam Perkins to a 2 year contract.
