TRADE: Toronto traded the rights to New York's 1997 1st round draft pick
to New York for Hubert Davis.

The LA Lakers signed rookie Kobe Bryant to a 3 year contract.

Indiana signed rookie Erick Dampier to a 3 year contract.

Mark Pope, Indiana's 2nd round draft pick, will play next season in
Turkey.

Phoenix signed rookie Steve Nash to a 3 year, $3.16 million contract.

Brian Evans (Orl) underwent successful surgery on his dislocated right
should and will be out 4 to 6 months.

Charlotte signed rookie Tony Delk to a 3 year contract.

Washington re-signed Chris Whitney.

Lorenzen Wright (LAC draft pick) underwent surgery to place a small screw
in his right foot to help the healing of a stress fracture.  He will be
out about 3 weeks.
