The NBA named Sam Cassell (NJ) as Player of the Week.  Cassell averaged 30
points on 35-64 FG and 50-53 FT and 11 assists as New Jersey went 4-0.
 
Indiana placed Austin Croshere on IR with a broken left foot and activated
Mark West.

Vernon Maxwell (Cha) began serving a 90 day jail sentence that resulted
from a 1995 charge of marijuana possession to which Maxwell pleaded no
contest.
