Due to the time it is taking to get the new collective bargaining
agreement written down, the opening day for training camp and player
signing has again slipped.  The two sides hope to have the deal finalized
and signed by Tuesday night and training camps open on Wednesday and teams
can begin signing players then - but if the deal is not completed by
Tuesday night, the opening day will slip to Thursday.

Detroit named George Irvine as an assistant coach.

Greg Foster (Uta) fractured his ankle during workouts last week and will
be out 2 to 4 weeks.
