News from July 7.

USA Basketball announced the 29 invitees to compete for the 12 roster
spots for the 1998 World Championship.  Due to the lockout, no NBA players
will be playing in the tournament - the list contains 5 college players,
12 CBA players, 9 players playing in Europe, and 3 players who play in the
CBA and Europe.  The tryout camp will take place Wednesday through 
Tuesday, with the roster being reduced to 12 players on Tuesday,
July 14.  The World Championship tournament starts July 29 in Greece.

NBA ref Ron Olesiak has been charged with tax evasion that stemmed from 
not reporting the money saved by downgrading first class airline tickets 
as income.
