Brian Rachford's Herschel 400 speed survey

Immediately after getting back into amateur astronomy after a several-year gap, I innocently enough started observing a few objects on the Astonomical League's Herschel 400 list on November 7th, 2002. This list contains the putative 400 best deep-sky objects on William Herschel's pioneering 2400+ object list which eventually was expanded to become the New General Catalogue (NGC). In any case, I quickly got serious about the list and ended up finishing it in just over 5 months, which is possibly an overall speed record, and almost certainly a record for a 6" telescope and an observer who had never previously seen 90% of the objects.

This web page give the details of that quest. This is still very much under construction, and not all of the basic stuff is here.
