TRANSIT POSTMARK COLLECTOR JUL/AUG 2003

TRANSIT POSTMARK COLLECTOR Volume 54, No. 5

Transit Postmark Collector Vol. 54, No. 5 (July-August 2003) ... is in the mail! David Gentry introduces us to the Pennsylvania Special, the PRR's rival to the Twentieth Century Limited from New York to Chicago. In his street car R.P.O. column, Gentry shows a Philadelphia & Germantown RPO marking from 1905. By far the latest known and used after the line had changed its name to Philadelphia & Chestnut Hill RPO. In his HPO column, Will Keller studies the St. Louis & Jackson HPO. Schedules and covers are shown. In his TPO column, Keller shows an East German cover of the Leipzig-Dresden route. A map and a schedule help to explain the cover. Paul Bourke shows a new Chelsea Terminal RPO marking. Actually it is a known handstamp type with A.G.O. replacing A.E.F. The differences are explained. David Simmons illustrates two route agent covers with dramatic fancy killers. There is society news, a mail sale and more...
