I regret to announce the death of Bob Truax, 93, the oldest of the Washington D.C. rail fans. He died at home, in his sleep, on Sunday, May 24th from complications resulting from congestive heart failure. Bob was instrumental in the Washington and Baltimore area in seeing that rail photographs and documents were preserved and added to collections. In addition, he saw to it that the information was accessible and shared. He was a fixture over the years in rail fan organizations and local historical societies as well. He authored the Washington DC Streetcar monograph for MPOS. A WWII Vet, he will be interred in Arlington National Cemetery, sometime in September. With about 1,200 WWII Vets dying daily, it has caused a backlog at the cemetery.
