White Stork

Saddle-billed Stork
(Ephippiorhynchus senegalensis)
Marabou Stork
(Leptoptilos crumeniferus)
I think the description of the Marabou Stork in Collins Guide to African Wildlife is appropriate: "An enormous, ugly bird." The one I photographed was four or five feet tall. It doesn't help its image to know that they are carrion feeders--I didn't know there were any storks that were.

Stork is big and ugly.

Lesser Flamingo
(Phoeniconaias minor)

Flamingos feed.

Greater Flamingo
(Phoenicopterus ruber)

A flamingo flaps its wings.

Flamingos walk.

Flamingos walk.
