| Violinist Ruthie
Dornfeld has been performing traditional music of America, Ireland,
Scandinavia, and Eastern Europe for over 25 years. She has toured throughout
the USA, Europe, Russia, and Brazil in a host of musical configurations.
Originally from Oregon, Ruthie moved to New England in 1981, where she
attended Berklee College of Music, became a well known contra dance fiddler,
played with the old-time stringband The Poodles, the bluegrass
band Boston City Limits, the Hungarian tanchaz band The Pulis,
and commuted to Europe to play with The American Cafe Orchestra.
In 1996 she returned to the Northwest, and besides her work with Cerise
currently plays with guitar master John Miller and the French Cabaret
group Rouge |

Ruth Hunter
has been singing and playing music of the Balkans since the early 80s.
She has taught voice, accordion and tambura at many music and dance events
and performed at dances and in concerts throughout the U.S., Canada and
Europe. A veteran of such San Francisco Bay area groups as Medna Usta,
The Balkan Noyz Boys, Bay Area Balkan Ensemble and The
Balkan Appliances, she also played in the Boston area with Karaváni
and Akshambelah. Along the way she fell in love with French musette
waltzes which led to her musical partnership with Ruthie Dornfeld. She
now lives in Seattle and is a member of the traditional Greek group Pangéo
as well as playing with Ruthie in Cerise. |
