Scott Carley, is an environmental educator, systems ecologist and knowledge architect with over twenty years of experience in designing and developing computer- and Internet-based systems and processes that support instructional design, collaborative learning, curriculum development, professional development/training and strategic planning in the environmental, telecommunications, healthcare and energy industries and in education and government.

With broad background and experience in theoretical chemistry, philosophy, systems ecology, natural resource management, regional planning, education and web-based technologies his interests now range over the application of nonequilibrium thermodynamics to ecology, economics and social/cultural dynamics (i.e., organomics), industrial ecology, life cycle analysis, computerized decision support for natural resource management and urban/regional planning, temporal geographic information systems, socio-linguistic models of collaborative learning and research, and the foundations and applications of second order cybernetics.
