2004 pictures

May 9. On the summit of Jack Ridge, Suzanne and Jim enjoy a view of Mt Stuart.

Aug 18. Near the old mining town of Tull City an airplane crashed in 1952. Amazingly, the remains are still there. Tull City was abandoned long before the crash.

Oct 4. Four Point Lake in the Pasayten reflects the larch grove.

Aug 30. Julie on Little Devil Peak, accompanied by a little devil. Monogram Lake lies far below. It's an easy, fun summit with glaciers towards Big Devil Peak.

Aug 28. Jim discovers an old "Stock Driveway" sign on Harding Mtn. It's yet another sheepherder trail, long lost and missing from modern maps.

Cathedral Peak, Oct 2. The stalwart of the Pasayten, this peak rises dramatically above the golden larches. One class 4 move just under the summit makes the route quite interesting.

Jul 18. Lori steps out of the tent to a glorious view of Fortress Mtn, near Red Mtn on Phelps Ridge. Our three-day trip started up Spider Meadows, crossed a portion of the Fortress High Route on the Spider Gap glacier, and dropped down Phelps Ridge.

Jul 18. Lori and I lost the abandoned Phelps Ridge trail, dropping down precipitous brush and landing in this meadow. Sheepherders once used this trail regularly. It can be found in the forest, but the meadows have swallowed up ancient tread.

Oct 5. At the end of our 5-day trip in the Pasayten, we ran into these odd ducks (which weren't marking any known route!)

Halloween Day. A tour of the Everett cemetary went past the namesakes of Gunn Peak and Mt. Persis. Gunn was a miner in the area.
