With all the hype and reviews I have seen about Abuelo's, I was expecting something more than the average
chain Mexican restaurant. I did get "more" in the atmosphere and price categories, but unfortunately not in
the food category.
When I saw that they had Stacked Enchiladas, I was excited that they might really know how to make them the right way, but they turned out to be the standard, ordinary Tex-Mex variety served flat instead of rolled (although this sauce does approach the Arizona style red enchiladas).
Everything else that to me makes up a basic Tex-Mex meal cost extra--a bowl of chile con queso and even an order of beans to go along with the enchiladas.
The best feature is the spicier than normal "salsa ranchera" enchiladas (if you want really good salsa ranchera, go to Las Fajitas).
